JM Engineering began with a long-held ambition. Owner Jordan had spent years collecting machinery and tools with the intention of eventually starting his own workshop. He wanted to build a business that reflected his own approach to workmanship and service.
When Covid-19 brought his fly in fly out mining work in Australia to a halt, the opportunity arrived sooner than expected. With encouragement from his partner and alongside colleague Dylan, Jordan decided to take the step and start the business.
“We had talked about it for a while. My partner was very encouraging and supportive of starting the business, and Dylan was also looking for something new.”
JM Engineering launched in March 2020 from a home-based workshop in Hikurangi. Demand grew quickly, and by October 2021 the team had moved into a dedicated workshop in Whangārei to support a growing number of customers across Northland.
Today the business focuses on delivering dependable service and quality workmanship for operators who rely on their equipment every day.
Working with PALFINGER NZ
JM Engineering became a PALFINGER NZ Service Partner in June 2020, only a few months after opening its doors. Since then, the team has steadily developed its capability and now acts as service agents for more than 50 PALFINGER cranes operating throughout the region.
Much of the work involves crane servicing and certification, ensuring equipment remains compliant and ready for daily operation. Regular involvement in PALFINGER training programmes helps the team stay up to date with evolving crane technology and service requirements.
“PALFINGER NZ run training courses which we are involved in, and that helps us stay up to date with the equipment we are working on.”
Access to genuine parts and technical support also plays an important role in maintaining service standards.
Supporting Operators Across Northland
Across Northland, truck mounted cranes are critical to industries such as construction, transport and infrastructure. When equipment needs servicing or certification, having experienced local support available can make a significant difference.
JM Engineering approaches its work with a clear set of values.
“We bring consistency, competence and integrity to everything we do. We are reliable and we take accountability for our work.”
For many operators, the value of choosing PALFINGER equipment goes beyond the crane itself. Customers rely on the service, support and expertise that sit behind the product through PALFINGER NZ and its nationwide service network.
Looking Ahead
For JM Engineering, working with PALFINGER is a natural fit.
“PALFINGER is a leading industry brand and it keeps up with modern technology.”
Since becoming a Service Partner in 2020, the relationship with PALFINGER NZ has continued to develop as the business grows and new technology enters the market.
“The partnership bends without breaking. It adjusts to new information and changing priorities rather than staying rigid.”
As part of the PALFINGER NZ nationwide service network, JM Engineering ensures crane owners across Northland benefit from both local expertise and the backing of a global manufacturer. Together, that support helps keep equipment operating safely and reliably for the long term.
