Smart Control

INTUITIVE CONTROL

Operating a loader crane requires a high level of concentration. Safety, precision and efficiency are crucial.

Crane work is therefore not only demanding, but also associated with an extremely high level of responsibility. Smart Control cannot replace the sense of responsibility and concentrated work, but it makes the work easier, faster and safer. The times when you had to imagine crane movements and motion sequences in three-dimensional space are now easier.

SMART CONTROL IS MORE PRECISE, FASTER, SAFER

  • More time and attention for complex lifting tasks
  • Faster and more precise control allows for more lifting operations per day
  • General reduction of the crane operator‘s workload
  • The risk of damage to the crane or load is reduced
  • Significantly shortens the training period for new operators

Instead of moving individual cylinders, the operator only specifies the direction of the crane tip with 1 lever, and the electronics (Paltronic) combine the necessary crane movements in the background to achieve exactly the desired position. With a lever movement in two directions, diagonal movements and any curves in space are also possible.

MORE EFFICIENCY IN APPLICATIONS REQUIRING LINEAR and/or DIAGONAL MOVEMENTS

  • Vertical lifting of underfloor containers
  • Horizontal discharge of bulk material in grab operation
  • Earth auger applications
  • Performing work through narrow doors and windows
  • Loading and unloading of trucks with palleted goods

GOOD TO KNOW

  • Instantly ready: Smart Control is instantly ready for use anytime and anywhere for all new TEC-range models with PALTRONIC 180 and on all TEC 7 cranes.
  • Smart Control is an option: Smart Control wants to help, but sometimes you don‘t need help. The operator can deactivate the system at any time and control the crane conventionally. It is also possible to override the Smart Control mode.
  • Compatibility: Smart Control can be configured for all extension boom variants. The compatibility with almost all assistance systems is guaranteed.
FPM (Fall Protection Mode) and the workman basket can still be used when Smart Control is deactivated. Smart Control is compatible with fly jib and MFA jib. If the crane model is equipped with fly jib, the crane tip can still be operated with Smart Control by controlling the jib conventionally. The same applies to operation with the MFA jib (PJM020). Manual extensions can be integrated via MEXT. In this case, the system controls the tip of the manual extension.

LEVELING ASSISTANT

UP TO 80 % TIME SAVINGS WHEN LEVELING THE VEHICLE

Loader Cranes Highlights Leveling Assistantodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

The loader crane setup can be time-consuming and intricate, especially considering the location and number of stabilizers. Achieving an optimally leveled vehicle is crucial for maximum stability and efficient crane operation.

Introducing the LEVELING ASSISTANT marks the next step in our TEC loader cranes, enhancing assistance systems and elevating overall performance. This innovative feature streamlines the stabilization process through pulsating movements of the stabilizer cylinders, all managed with a single lever movement on the remote control.

The LEVELING ASSISTANT offers two customizable versions, “steep position” and “HPSC,” allowing operators to choose the best vehicle inclination for each application. This advancement significantly increases the comfort and efficiency of crane operation.

Loader Cranes Highlights Leveling Assistantodal

HOW IT WORKS:

Setup: Ensure all outriggers and stabilizer plates are in position before initiating the leveling process.

Activation: Use the PALcom P7 radio remote control menu to activate the leveling assistant. A single lever deflection moves the outrigger cylinders downward semi-automatically in steps, clockwise. The P7 symbol changes to green when a stabilizer makes ground contact, with vibration indicating target leveling.

Fine Adjustment: Optionally, finely level the vehicle by deflecting the lever again, achieving accuracy up to 0.1°.

Elevation Adjustment: Establish the desired vehicle elevation. Afterward, initialize existing radio-controlled front and frame stabilizers.

Retraction: To retract stabilizer cylinders using the leveling assistant, reverse the procedure. Begin by fully retracting front and frame stabilizers, followed by the remaining stabilizer cylinders. Unlock optional tiltable stabilizers as the final step.

BENEFITS

EFFICIENCY IN USE

  • Time savings due to semi-automated leveling process of the entire vehicle

OPERATOR FRIENDLY

  • Easy and intuitive operation thanks to the PALcom P7 radio remote control
  • Comfort and time saving due to semi-automated leveling of the vehicle

SAFE CRANE OPERATION

  • The leveling assistant supports the crane operator in the stabilizing process and levels the vehicle according to the allowed vehicle inclination. The process is semi-automatic with the operation of just one lever.
  • This not only saves time in the leveling process, but also guarantees perfect crane positioning regardless of the situation at the operation site.

HPSC-PLUS Load

MORE OUTREACH DUE TO LOAD DETECTION

Loader Cranes Highlights Hpsc Plus Loadodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

PALFINGER has further developed the proved stability system HPSC and offers application oriented additional functions in a modular system. One of the modules of this HPSC-Plus concept is HPSC-Plus LOAD. It reacts to the loading condition of the truck and calculates on the basis of the inclination the maximum load limit suitable for the respective situation.

HOW IT WORKS

In addition to the stability load limit which is defined by HPSC, there is now a second load limit which considers the inclination as a technical indicator for an increase of the stability. HPSC and LOAD complement each other perfectly and ensure that in every situation the best performance of the crane is reached at full stability. Regardless of whether the vehicle is empty, partially loaded or fully loaded, HPSC and LOAD take over the tasks of the stability monitoring automatically where necessary. The operator does not need to switch the LOAD module on or off separately.

BENEFITS

MORE EFFICIENCY IN USE

  • Optimal uilization of the working range depending on the load (empty, partially loaded or fully loaded). The inclination is then used as an additional indicator for the increase of the crane performance.

OPERATOR FRIENDLINESS

  • The operator does not need to switch the LOAD module on or off separately
  • Current status query directly on the PALcom P7 radio remote control

SAFE CRANE OPERATION

  • No matter if HPSC or LOAD is active. The stability is always calculated automatically by the electronic overload system of the crane

P-FOLD

PERFECTLY SET UP WITH A FINGERTIP MOVEMENT

Loader Cranes Highlights P Foldodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

P-Fold is a comfortable PALFINGER assistance system. It makes folding and unfolding an easy job for the operator. The P-Fold system works in combination with the innovative RTC (Rope Tension Control). Both systems perfectly support the crane’s set-up processes and thus reduce set-up times to a minimum. The operator will be guided safe and clearly thanks to the intuitive menu navigation of the PALcom P7 – a major benefit also for inexperienced operators. In addition to the significant increase in operator comfort, the prevention of damage on vehicle, load and rope is another important point.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Unfolding with a Fingertip Movement
After P-Fold is activated, the crane is set in motion by moving just one control lever. The intelligent control-system coordinates all the crane movements and fly jib movements until a defined working position is reached. In combination with RTC, the winch will also be controlled fully automatically by P-Fold.
  2. Folding with a Fingertip Movement
After the job is finished, the crane can be folded from any working position. P-Fold again coordinates all crane movements including the fly jib functions. The operator controls the innovative system with just one control lever until the crane has reached its final transport position

High Performance Stability Control (HPSC)

INTELLIGENT STABILITY CONTROL

Loader Cranes Highlights Hpscodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

High Performance Stability Control (HPSC) is a proportional system which recalculates and defines the working range and stability of the crane. Sensors for proportional path measurement are located in the stabilizers, making the positioning fully variable.

HOW IT WORKS

The HPSC system calculates and defines the permissible working range for any stabilizer situation. The position of the stabilizer support is detected by means of cable extension transducers or magnetostrictive position sensors located in the outrigger. Based on an intelligent calculation algorithm developed by PALFINGER, this complex calculation process enables a very accurate approximation to the vehicle’s actual stability based on the crane and vehicle’s real data.

Loader Cranes Highlights Hpscodal

BENEFITS

MORE EFFICIENCY IN USE

  • Widest possible working range thanks to intelligent real-time data algorithm
  • Maximum lifting capacity at any point of the stability control curve

A GREAT VARIATY OF APPLICATIONS

  • Maximum flexibility in truck-mounted crane use due to variable stabilizer positioning

OPERATOR-FRIENDLINESS

  • The operator can read off the current status at any time on the situation

Synchronised Rope Control (SRC)

MORE COMFORT IN ROPE WINCH OPERATION

Loader Cranes Highlights Srcodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

The SRC (Synchronised Rope Control) system maintains a constant distance between the pulley head and the hook block. This advantage is particularly valuable in terms of ease of use for the operator, and it also noticeably improves the efficiency of any operation.

HOW IT WORKS

Sensors in the pulley head detect the movement and forward the signals directly to the Paltronic. If the SRC is activated, it automatically keeps the distance between the pulley head and the hook block constant during any crane movements that increase or decrease the rope length. A sensor on the pulley head detects that a rope length decreasing movement is being performed, when the boom is being extended. If the knuckle boom or fly jib is lowered, the SRC also adjusts the rope winch to keep a constant distance between the hook block and the pulley head.

BENEFITS

MORE EFFICIENCY IN USE

  • The load attached to the winch can be traversed horizontally at a constant height
  • The load attached to the winch can be traversed at a specific angle
  • The loading cycle is significantly improved

OPERATOR-FRIENDLINESS

  • The crane driver can focus all attention on the actual crane movements

SAFE CRANE OPERATION

  • Particularly for less experienced crane operator, the system offers great assistance when working with the rope winch
  • Avoidance of damage to the rope or load
  • The hook block is prevented from running onto the pulley head

HIGH POWER LIFTING SYSTEM

MAXIMUM POWER, WHEN IT IS REALLY NEEDED

Loader Cranes Highlights High Power Lifting Systemodal

PRODUCT FEATURES

The PALFINGER High Power Lifting System (E-HPLS, A-HPLS or S-HPLS) increases the capacity of the crane by up to 15% while reducing working speed. E-HPLS can be activated manually for the occasional manipulation of very heavy loads. A-HPLS (SLD 3, SLD 5, TEC 5) is activated fully automatically and offers 10% more lifting capacity. S-HPLS activates itself also automatically, offering 15% more lifting capacity on SH- and TEC 7 crane models. There is continuous activation depending on the power required.

Loader Cranes Highlights High Power Lifting Systemodal

HOW IT WORKS

If HPLS is activated, the hydraulic pressure is increased electronically. That way, a higher payload can be achieved. At the same time, the speed is reduced by the electronic system

Download Brochure

BENEFITS

MORE EFFICIENCY IN USE

  • Increased lifting power of the crane
  • Better lift-to-weight ratio
  • Each function is slowed by different amounts, so that less critical functions like boom extend/retract can still run close to normal speed

OPERATOR-FRIENDLINESS

  • The reduced speed allows for accurate positioning of heavy loads

INCREASED RESALE VALUE

  • The service life of the crane is prolonged by reduced dynamic loading of the crane structure

HIGH SPEED EXTENSION

The High Speed Extension is a standard feature on PALFINGER loader cranes. Also referred to as Return Oil Utilization, this feature is a regenerative hydraulic circuit for the extension booms. It speeds up the boom extend and retract functions by up to 30%.
